Meeting Minutes – Feb 23, 2015

Dear Rotaractor,

Here is a list of updates from Monday’s meeting.

Exec Positions Open | Deadline to Apply – Noon on Saturday, March 7th!
All of the following exec positions are open for the 2015-16 year! A new exec position has been created as well. Submit your application by noon on Saturday, March 7th. Shortlisted applicants will be contacted Saturday evening to prepare a short 2 minute speech/talk during elections at the general meeting, on Monday, March 9th.

Community Service Updates & Call for Volunteers
Thanks to everyone who volunteered at the Variety Show of Hearts Telethon last weekend! It was a great success, lots of fun, and we have already reserved 15 spots for next year!

We will be doing another community meal with First United Church on Sunday March 8th from 9:00am-2:00pm. We will be serving a meal of vegetable and chicken curry with rice and pita bread. To sign up please register on Eventbrite at the link below:

We will be volunteering at Mission Possible Coffee House on Saturday April 4th, from 11:30am-2:00pm. Around 4-12 people will be needed.

There will be a community service committee meeting this Friday February 27 at 4:00pm in Koerner Library in room 169 on floor 1, which is the very bottom floor. Hope to see you there!

Nepal International Trip Updates

Next Krispy Kreme Sale will be on March 18 and 19. We can have it St. Patrick’s day theme. A doodle will be sent closer to the event.
A social/fundraiser is being planned at the moment. It will be in Mid-March.

United We Dine Fundraiser | Spread the word!
Rotaract Club of UBC pleased to invite you to ‘United We Dine’, a dinner Fundraiser organized in collaboration with First United Church of Vancouver. All the proceeds will go towards the Weekend Community Meal Program delivered by UBC students for the residents of Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside.

When: 8:00PM – 11:00PM, March 28, 2015
Where: Simpatico Restaurant, 2222 West 4th Avenue, Vancouver
What: 3-course dinner, live music, entertainment, silent auction

Tickets: $40 (includes a three course Greek dinner, live music and entertainment)

United We Dine Fundraiser for the Downtown Eastside | March 28

‘United We Dine’ is a dinner fundraiser/silent auction at Simpatico Greek Restaurant, . All the proceeds will go towards initiating the RotaractWeekend Community Meal Program at First United Church, where we organize, prepare, and serve nutritious meals for  Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside community. 

The entire venue is reserved for the event (seating for ~65 people), and will feature live jazz music, dance performances and other entertainment, as well as silent auction. Great opportunity to meet Rotaractors in the district as well Rotarians

What: 3-course Greek dinner, live music, entertainment, silent auction

When: Doors open 8 PM – 11 PM, March 28th 2015

Local Community Projects | Updates & Call for Volunteers | March 21 & April 4

A huge thank you to everyone who came out to the Community Meal on Sunday and to those of you who came grocery shopping on Saturday.  We served a great chicken curry to over 150 of our friends on the Downtown Eastside. We are hosting two more events before the end of the term and would love to have as many of you join us as we can!
