This is our Pacific Canada flavored Rotaract Roundtrip! Led by District 5040 with collaborators 5020 (Vancouver Island), we Invited 6 International Rotaractors to join us in 10 days of cultural exchange activities, international goodwill, humanitarian volunteering, and fellowship. Trip participants included: Amiel Santos from the Dominican Republic, Julia from Denmark, Ratu from Fiji, Christian from Germany, Maria from Sweden, and Lauren from South Africa.
On November 19th, we held a successful Rotaract District 5040 Training Day at the Burnaby Neighborhood House. 40 Rotaractors and Rotarians gathered for a day of learning, sharing, and fun! Our day included inspiring speeches from District Rotaract Chair (DRC) Joan Posivy and DG Don Evans; a team-building challenge making stools out of only newspaper and masking tape; an “Ask a Rotarian” panel; breakout sessions on projects, membership, marketing & PR, and club positions; and also a presentation on all the opportunities available to our Rotaractors via Rotaract and Rotary!
The evening of December 3rd our District’s Rotaractors had a blast chasing each other around North America’s largest laser tag arena at Planet Lazer in New Westminster. Our social Co-Chairs Bobby and Thomas took top spots in the first and second games respectively. It is no wonder they picked tag laser tag for our Fall social! Following laser tag we headed over to Brown’s Socialhouse for a nice dinner and stimulating conversation.

While the Rotary District 5040 Conference is not planned by the Rotaract District, it is an important conference for Rotarians and Rotaractors from throughout the district to come together in fellowship, to recognize the projects of the last year, and to plan new projects going forward.
This year’s Peacing It Together conference took place in Squamish at the West Coast Railway Heritage Park from May 31 to June 3, 2018. Highlights of the conference included lunch on a train, great speakers on the theme of Peace, a multi-generational discussion, and a rocking time with Elvis at the gala!
